Adjustment Bureau

My favorite topics have come together on the big screen with the release of Matt Damon’s new hit film, Adjustment Bureau. It’s an epic love story that looks at the role of fate, destiny, free will, and spirituality, and poses this question:

“what would you risk for love?”

The story revolves around a rising politician, David Norris, who is about to give a concession speech on election night when he meets the captivating Elise (brilliantly portrayed by Emily Blunt) in the men’s room of the Waldorf Astoria hotel. The chemistry between the two leaps off the screen. Elise, who is being chased out of the hotel for crashing a wedding, leaves before David can get her phone number or her last name. He google’s the name Elise only to find there are more than 750,000 entries – none of whom are her.

Destiny intervenes and they are reunited on a bus. For a moment things are looking up for the two of them.

Fate soon appears in the form of a series of fedora-wearing men from the “adjustment bureau.” David is informed that his “plan has been changed” and “free will has been removed from humanity” and, by the way, he is slated to become a U.S. president.

But, according to the plan, he must give up all thoughts of ever seeing Elise again.

He is told that life is all part of a master plan that is determined by “the Chairman.”

The movie follows the next few years of the star-crossed lovers and those intrusive, pesky fate guys who just don’t seem to understand the power of true love and what can happens when soulmate’s passionately kiss. I’m not about to give away the ending to this totally delightful movie except to say you don’t want to miss this one while its still on the big screen.

I give the film 4-hearts!
