Red Beef Curry

Ingredients*
3/4 lb. flank
1 red bell pepper
2 tbsp red curry paste
3 tbsp canola oil
1 can light coconut milk
1 tbsp brown sugar
2 tbsp fish sauce
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 cup roasted peanuts
1/4 cup fresh basil

Steps

1. Thinly slice the beef across the grain into strips about 2" long. If the beef is too soft for thin slicing, throw it into the freezer for 15 minutes.
2. Heat the curry paste and oil in a large skillet over medium to medium-high heat. Cook the curry paste, mashing it and mixing it with the oil until well mixed and bubbling.
3. Add the beef slices and cook until the beef is lightly browned on all sides, about 3-4 minutes.
4. Add about 3/4 of the can of coconut milk and stir it in. Simmer for 10 minutes.
5. While the beef is simmering, coarsely chop the peanuts and thinly slice the basil leaves. Thinly slice the red bell pepper lengthwise.
6. After simmering for 10 minutes, add the fish sauce, brown sugar, salt, and chopped peanuts. Simmer for 3 minutes.
7. Add the red bell pepper strips. Simmer for another 2 minutes.
8. Serve over rice and garnish with the fresh basil slivers.

Pasta With Spicy Shrimp

Ingredients

• 1 pound pasta, such as spaghetti
• 1 tablespoon olive oil
• 1 pound large peeled and deveined shrimp
• kosher salt and black pepper
• 1 jalapeño, chopped
• 1 24- to 26-ounce jar marinara sauce
• 1/4 cup chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley

Directions

1. Cook the pasta according to the package directions.
2. Meanwhile, heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
3. Season the shrimp with ½ teaspoon salt and ¼ teaspoon pepper and cook, turning once, for 2 minutes.
4. Add the jalapeño and cook for 1 minute.
5. Add the sauce and parsley and cook until heated through, 2 to 3 minutes. Serve over the pasta.

Perusakan Hutan Amazon

Lagi-lagi syok dengan berita mengenai perusakan hutan Amazon..Menurut pemerintah Brazil, pembalakan liar terjadi seluas 593km persegi /bulan!  Ya Tuhan..ini nih yang sering aku khawatirkan.  Rasanya sedih, marah dan putus asa mendengarnya.  Hutan adalah jantungnya bumi, jika sudah tidak ada lagi bagaimana kita akan memperoleh oksigen?  bukan hanya itu, bencana alam pasti akan lebih dahsyat dari sebelumnya!  ckckckck..

Ada sebuah kata-kata bijak yang kurang lebih mengatakan seperti ini, sesungguhnya manusia itu bisa menentukan nasibnya sendiri, kehancuran atau kesadaran untuk memperbaiki diri.  Jika dia memilih untuk menghancurkan dunia ini, maka itu akan benar-benar terjadi.  Aku rasa manusia sekarang memang sudah memilih untuk menghancurkan bumi ini, hati-hati saja lah Allah akan mengabulkan keinginan kalian.  Kalau memang sudah bosan dengan bumi, rusak saja semuanya, keruk semua kekayaannya.  Suatu hari nanti, ketika kiamat..baru semuanya pada tertunduk malu dan penuh penyesalan!

Taubat deh..sebelum terlambat, nanti pada hari dimana semua hancur, kita tidak akan mampu memutar balik waktu.  Dan hari itu dimana kita semua harus mempertanggungjawabkan semuanya.

My Lucky Day!

Horee..aku dapat uang!! Jadi ceritanya pagi ini aku sedang membereskan kamar dan lemari pakaianku, lagi melipat lipat pakaian satu persatu, dibawah lipatan yang masih berantakan ada sehelai amplop coklat kecil bertuliskan Bank Mandiri.  Aku berpikir, hmm..pasti kosong.  Aku memang suka menyembunyikan sejumlah uang cash dibawah baju untuk keperluan sehari-hari seperti membayar gas, atau uang belanja harian.  

Karena amplop itu terlihat tipis, aku sempat berasumsi bahwa itu hanya sebuah amplop bekas kosong dan tidak lagi berguna, jadi aku berniat untuk membuangnya.  Untung aku sempat mengintip bagian dalamnya terlebih dulu, dan ternyata ada uang berwarna merah dengan nominal berapa coba? Rp. 10.000? bukan..Rp 100.000,- yaaaayyy huhuyy!! hihihi...rezeki nomplok Alhamdulillah buat nambah-nambah:-) Seperti menemukan sebuah harta karun saja hehe..

Iya aku suka lupa kalau menyimpan uang dibawah baju..hehehe..senangnyaa! Aku tidak ingat kapan terakhir aku menyimpan uang dibawah baju.  Mungkin sekitar 4 bulan yang lalu.  Makaci Ya Allah..lihatkan aku tersenyum hari ini? Ini bagian kata-kata bijak yang bagus untuk kejadian hari ini..

Ketika pintu kebahagiaan tertutup, yang lain terbuka.  Tetapi kadang-kadang kita menatap terlalu lama pada pintu yang tertutup itu sehingga kita tidak melihat pintu lain yang telah terbuka untuk kita.

Kecelakaan Transportasi Di Indonesia

Akhir-akhir ini banyak terdengar berita mengenai kecelakaan transportasi umum, seperti misalnya, pesawat merpati di Papua, Kecelakaan kereta api, kapal feri, bus pariwisata dan lain-lain.  Rasanya dari jaman dulu sistem transportasi umum negara ini tidak pernah beres deh.  Coba saja bandingkan dengan negara barat, jarang tuh terdengar berita kecelakaan transportasi yang sering.  Indonesia barangkali peringkat pertama yang punya history kecelakaan transportasi umum di dunia paling banyak barangkali ya..sotoy aja aku sih..:-) habis, aku kesal sekali,  tiap-tiap harus mendengar ada kecelakaan pesawat ini, kecelakaan kereta di situ..huff..

Bukan apa-apa, tapi ini kan masalah nyawa manusia.  Dan aku pun seorang pengguna transportasi umum juga.  Sebenarnya permasalahan intinya tuh ada dimana sih? siapa sebenarnya yang harus bertanggung jawab atas setiap musibah mengerikan seperti itu? Faktor cuaca? human error? atau pemerintahnya yang onche alias o'on  (stupido)? Ini bukan ngomongin soal takdir ya.  Meskipun mungkin takdir manusia itu sendiri terjadi harus melalui hal seperti itu, tapi kan tidak harus sesering ini kasusnya. 

Masa mengatur sistem transportasi saja berantakan?  Bukannya yang harus dipikirkan adalah masalah keamanan, kenyamanan, perawatan dan pengadaan transportasi yang layak untuk masyarakat? Mungkin lebih kompleks dari itu, aku sih tidak tahu..aku hanya tergolong masyarakat awam yang tidak tahu menahu soal urusannya Dephubtrans. Sepertinya yang penting bagi mereka itu urusannya hanya memikirkan bagaimana mempertebal kantong dengan uang korupsi. Sebel.. Giliran ada kecelakaan, cuma bisa saling tuduh dan lempar batu sembunyi tangan.  Malu donk paak..Hati-hati kalau sering makan uang haram perutnya buncit lho!

Soal kasusnya Merpati yang jatuh di Papua yang lalu, ternyata pesawat buatan china yang dibeli!  Padahal sudah jelas kita punya produk sendiri yang jauh lebih bagus kualitasnya dan murah pula.  Masa justru yang dibeli buatan China yang sama negaranya sendiri saja pesawat itu tidak banyak diminati!  Ampuun deh..

Begini nih kalau sering nonton berita, yang ada justru merusak kepositifan kita sendiri dalam memandang sesuatu hal.  Bawaannya jadi dongkol, kesel dan fed up sekali sama orang-orang di pemerintahan sana.  

Sebenarnya masalah yang dimiliki negara ini sudah benar-benar gawat.  Bukan hanya kasus kecelakaan saja, musibah dan bencana alam yang terjadi juga sudah semakin parah..tanah longsor, banjir dan sebagainya..mau menyalahkan Tuhan? bukan! salah manusianya!  Manusianya yang sudah terlalu egois, tamak dan acuh alias cuek bebek sama perasaan orang lain maupun alam, serta lingkungannya sendiri.  Parah! Hutan tropis kita sebagai jantung oksigen dunia sekarang sudah tinggal beberapa persennya saja akibat pembalakan liar dan perluasan lahan kelapa sawit.  Ya Tuhaan..

Bahkan terumbu karang di lautan indonesia yang dulu terkenal di dunia, sekarang sudah mulai rusak..haduuh..kalo ingat hal-hal seperti itu rasanya mau marah!  Seharusnya Indonesia ini adalah negara yang sangat kaya, tapi karena manusianya sudah mulai kehilangan moral dan rusak jiwanya, mereka sendiri yang menghancurkan segalanya.  Poor us..poor me..poor my son..Akibatnya kita sendiri yang susah!

Huff..sudah deh..toh aku juga tidak bisa berbuat banyak, yang bisa aku lakukan adalah terus berusaha memperbaiki diri, membantu menjaga lingkungan ku sendiri dulu.  Dulu aku paling tidak suka melihat berita, alasannya ya itu..selalu memancing emosi negatif saja.  Sekedar tahu saja, mengenai apa yang sedang terjadi di negeri ini.  Tapi tidak usah sampai terpancing emosi deh..atau kalau perlu tidak usah nonton sama sekali.  Tonton saja tayangan lain yang lebih berguna dan menambah ilmu pengetahuan, atau demi kebahagiaan serta kepuasan batin kita saja.  

Jadi, mengenai masalah kecelakaan lalu lintas ini, semoga saja pemerintah mau belajar lebih dewasa.  Belajar dari pengalaman serta kejadian-kejadian  yang pernah ada dan mencoba memperbaiki semuanya dengan melihat permasalahan lebih rinci ke hal-hal yang paling kecil sekalipun.  Lebih seriuslah bapak-bapak..ini nyawa manusia loh bukan ayam.  Coba dong berempati kalau ada anggota keluarga yang berada di pesawat naas itu, bagaimana perasaannya?  Untuk kita para pengguna transportasi umum, sebaiknya tidak perlu memaksa diri untuk berada di sebuah kapal yang sudah penuh.  Jangan memaksa untuk bela-belain diri berjubel seperti pindang jika kapasitas kendaraan sudah tidak memungkinkan.  Lebih baik bersabar menunggu giliran selanjutnya dari pada tenggelam di tengah laut hilang dimakan ikan hiiy..jangan sampai ya.

Kalau bisa sih lebih memperhatikan keselamatan diri sendiri dengan mempelajari prosedur keselamatan yang ada di kendaraan tersebut.  Jangan lengah, ikuti prosedur yang ada..ada contoh menyebalkan yang pernah aku lihat dipesawat.  Masih ada penumpang yang bandel menyalakan ponselnya ketika pesawat berada di udara!  ugghh..rasanya pingin nonjok tuh orang! sudah jelas-jelas dilarang menyalakan celular didalam pesawat terbang, karena bisa mengganggu sistem navigasi pesawat itu, gila kan!! The rules are the rules you have to obey, otherwise you'll be doomed if you ignore them!  So..hati-hati saja jika sedang bepergian, jangan dianggap remeh tuh kertas prosedur keselamatan yang ada bacaan doanya juga di pesawat..

Simply Afternoon Pleasures

Sore ini aku iseng mencari makanan selingan di dapur, dan aku ingat kemarin aku sempat membeli..DURIAN! hohoho..Dengan semangat aku membuat air panas, untuk apa coba? untuk membuat cokelat panas! hmmm..sepertinya masih kurang untuk perutku nih..Ah iya..bagaimana kalau aku membuat setangkup roti isi skippy? mmmh..enak banget! aku suka selai kacang skippy.  Yang katanya sih, di USA sana skippy itu terdapat bakteri salmonelanya lho bloggers..ah tapi lain di US lain di Indonesia kan ya..lha wong pabriknya aja beda kok hehehe..tetep tidak mau tahu :-) Selama ini perut kami fine-fine aja tuu..hihihi..

Ehm..aku makannya sambil ngumpet lho bloggers..karena kalau anakku lihat aku sedang mengulum durian, wah dia bisa mengganggu acaraku hihihi..Darren itu suka durian juga sama seperti aku mamanya:) Begitu cokelat panas dan rotinya sudah jadi..tadaa..aku bawa aja ke kamarku sambil makan di tempat tidur dan mengisi blog ini.  It's only a simple pleasure for today..nice!

A Little Hope For Me

Aku dan sahabatku akan serius membuat sebuah usaha kecil.  Kali ini kami sedang membuat kalkulasi modal untuk merintisnya.  Meskipun masih baru dan coba-coba tapi aku pikir yang namanya bisnis makanan nggak akan pernah ada matinya, karena makan adalah kebutuhan manusia.  

Aku nggak malu jika aku harus berdagang, namanya juga usaha..tidak boleh gengsi.  Yang penting, ini adalah hasil keringatku dan juga buah pikiranku.  Aku hidup dengan realita, jika tidak dapat peluang untuk berkarir di kantor, apa salahnya membuka usaha? Yang penting adalah bertahan hidup dengan cara yang halal.  Jika sebuah usaha tidak berhasil aku akan mencoba mencari jalan usaha yang lain.  Harus seperti itu. 

Untung aku punya sahabat yang baik dan mendukung.  Tapi untuk saat ini, aku belum mau berbagi rahasia mengenai usaha apa yang sedang aku rintis ini.  Aku merasa positif sekali, bahwa membuka usaha makanan di Bandung pasti akan selalu ada peminatnya.  Dan makanan yang satu ini, memang sudah terkenal enak di tempat asalnya Cirebon. Hayoo..kira-kira bisa tebak tidak apa jenis makanan yang satu ini? hmm..ada deh..hehehe..Doakan kami ya bloggers..supaya usaha ini berjalan awal bulan depan.

 Your children are not your children

They are the sons and daughters of life's longing for itself

They come through you but not from you

And though they are with you yet they belong not to you.

You may give them your love but not your thoughts,

for they have their own thoughts.

You may house their bodies but not their souls, 

for their souls dwell in the house of tomorrow,

which you cannot visit, not even in your dreams.

You may strive to be like them, but seek not to make them like you.

For life goes not backward nor tarries with yesterday.

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.

The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite, 

and he bends you with his might that his arrows may go swift and far.

Let your bending in the archer's hand be for gladness;

for even as He loves the arrow that flies,

So He loves also the bow that is stable.
